Strength for Life at Thebarton Aquatic Centre

COTA SA accredited strength and cardio training program designed for the over 50's. Run by a qualified fitness instructor, Strength For Life participants undergo an initial health assessment, then follow a tailored program plan during supervised session times.

Assessments and classes

A $50 health assessment is required prior to participation. If you are a member the health assessment is included in your membership. To book an assessment speak to the customer service team or call on 8200 2531.

Individual sessions are free for members, or may be attended on a casual basis for $12 per class.

Strength Training for Older Adults

Participants engage in strength and balance training, progressed regularly under the supervision of fitness professionals. It's never too late to start!

  • Supervised strength training is not a high risk activity
  • Strength training can alleviate the effects of chronic conditions such as arthritis, type 2 diabetes, osteoporosis and heart disease
  • Improves balance and reduces the risk of falling
  • Enhances your mental well being, raising self-esteem and self-confidence

Class Booking Rules

  • Classes can be booked 4 days in advance by members. Participants with Visit Passes can book up to 2hrs in advance (including online), and those attending casually can check-in 2 hours prior.
  • Maximum of 1 classes per day
  • A total of 4 active bookings at any one time
  • A 5 spot ‘standby list’ is available. If a spot opens the first person on the standby list is automatically added to the class booking (email and SMS notifications are sent).

A class booking is not required, but highly recommend to avoid disappointment. Use the timetable above to view live availability.

Booking a Class (members & visit pass holders)

  1. Using the live class timetable by clicking 'Book Now' next to the class you wish to book. We suggest bookmarking this page.
  2. If you are not already logged in, you'll be redirected to Client Portal.
  3. Once in Client Portal click the 'Book' tab at the bottom left. Alternatively, use the horizontal scroll to find the 'Group Fitness Classes' tab at the top.
  4. Select a day/class and click 'Book Now'. If you do not have a valid membership or visit pass you'll be prompted to purchase a visit pass.
  5. Manage your booking from Client Portal. You can cancel without penalty up until 2 hours prior to the class.
